‘If you want a taste of 18th century London living at its most sumptuous this is the place to go.’
Nigel Andrew, Amazing Interiors

Please join us for this year’s summer outing to Spencer House in central London. Built between 1756 and 1766 for John, first Earl Spencer, Spencer House is one of the finest of London’s surviving eighteenth century town houses. It was designed by John Vardy and James Stuart and its State Rooms are amongst the first neo-classical interiors in Europe. The house is currently owned by Charles, Lord Spencer. In 1985, RIT Capital Partners, the family company of Jacob Rothschild, bought a long lease on the property. Lord Rothschild embarked on a major restoration programme, gathering together a team of architects, engineers, designers and historians to restore the house to its late eighteenth century appearance. The meticulous restoration continued from 1987 to 1999, with further work over a 5-year period on the carving of the superb replica marble chimney pieces.

Our guided tour starts at 12 noon and takes approximately an hour. Following our visit a table has been booked for lunch at 1.30pm at a nearby pub, The Kings Head, at 10 Stafford Street, off Albemarle Street.

We have to pay Spencer House for the tour before the event, so please can you pay for your tour tickets when you book. There is a maximum number for the tour of 30 people and tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis. The booking deadline is Friday 22nd June.
